We have been in business at the same location for over 16 years and take pride in our customer service. All fly shops sell the same stuff for the most part, but we like to answer questions, tie knots, help you learn and give you the best experience you can possibly find in the Southern Rockies. The Arkansas River is in our backyard, so we specialize in walk/wading and floating it basically year around. We also guide on the South Platte, Spinney Reservoir, Eleven Mile Reservior and several private creeks. If an Alaskan adventure is in your future, let us book you a trip to Lake Marie Lodge. For years, we have been designing and tying specialized fly patterns for the Arkansas and surrounding rivers. Royal Gorge Anglers is pround to offer Larry Kingrey's flies for sale in the shop and on line. Larry grew up on this river and owns and operates a commercial tying company in Canon City. He also designs patterns for Idylwilde Fly Company and guides for us in his spare time. Royal Gorge Anglers is owned by Jan Carson and Bill Edrington. Jan's husband, Bill was Kit Carson's great grandson, so her western heritage runs deep. Bill is a retired sociology professor who has recently published a book on the Arkansas entitled Fly Fishing the Arkansas, An Angler's Guide and Journal. He has over forty years of fly fishing experience on Southern Colorado rivers. We are a Rocky Mountain fly fishing shop and promote the western fly fishing experience from back country pack trips to an afternoon on a freestone river under a Stetson hat.
