Fremont Economic Development Corporation (FEDC) has been promoting a better place for business and industry since 1977. Our focus is to attract and retain primary jobs in Fremont County. During the past 15 years, we have been very successful in this venture while our employment figures have increased from 10,000 to more than 17,000.
Fremont County boasts a pleasant year-round climate, close proximity to Colorado Springs and Pueblo, a dedicated workforce, and low cost of living. Business Tax Incentives
As a part of the Colorado Enterprise Zone program, the state provides state tax incentives for new or expanding businesses. Fremont County is located in the Upper Arkansas Enterprise Zone. Tax credits available include capital investment, new business facility job credits, sales/use tax exemptions for manufacturing equipment, research and development, vacant commercial building rehabilitation, and qualified job training program investment credit.
Business Development Incubator
The Fremont Economic Development Corporation manages a Business Development Center and Incubator for start-up and expanding businesses. Suites vary from 1,000 to 6,000 sq. ft. with a conference room on premise. The facility, constructed in 1987 is owned by the City of Caņon City for use by entrepreneurs to grow their businesses. The incubator increases the odds of survival, reduces start-ups costs and provides a professional image to customers and suppliers.
Small Business Development Center (SBDC)
The SBDC is located on the Pueblo Community College, Fremont Campus in Caņon City. The staff, paid and volunteer counselors are very active in their delivery of services, counseling and expanding the business resource library. The Center is the primary support organization for business plan development assistance, counseling and referral to financial sources for businesses and industry in Fremont County.
Educational Opportunities
Pueblo Community College's new Fremont campus is one of the fastest growing in Colorado and works directly with our employers and the local Workforce Center to build a dedicated workforce. Colorado State University-Pueblo is an hour away from the major employment center area of Caņon City.
Infrastructure
US Highway 50 runs through Fremont County with access to Interstate 25 available just 35 miles from the Fremont County Airport. Interstate 25 runs through Pueblo, Colorado, and offers north/south access through the state.
The county managed airport is open to the public and offers tie-downs, hangars, regular 100LL fuel, Jet-A fuel, charter flights, flight instruction and aircraft sales/rental.
A United Parcel Service facility has daily flights for shipping worldwide.
The Fremont County airport and industrial park are located only 38 miles from Colorado Springs on Colorado 115 and 110 miles south of Denver.
