Silver Anniversary-Museum of Colorado Prisons

The Museum of Colorado Prisons is hosting a week of celebration events for its Silver Anniversay. All events will take place at the Museum at 201 North First Street.  Events will take place at the Museum and will incorporate an annual membership drive.  All Fremont County residents will receive half-price admission during the week.  Free refreshments made by the Colorado Deparment of Corrections' Culinary Arts program will be offered along with several special programs, new displays, and updated exhibits throughout the week.  Video presentations of the new documentary, "Territorial Prison:  Stories Behind the Walls," will be featured as well as available for purchase in the Museum's gift shop.  Saturday's celebration will include a birthday party and special magic show presentation at 5:30 pm on the Museum grounds.

Membership in the Museum of Colorado Prisons entitles the purchaser to annual admission passes as well as receipt of a quarterly newsletter documenting interesting historical events from the past 140years of Colorado prison hisotry as well as information on new exhibits and programs at the Museum.  Silver Anniversary attendees who renew or buy a new membership will be offered a guided tour of the museum's archive area, usually restricted from public access.   Individual, family, sustaining, benefactor, and corporate memeberships are offered in prices ranging from $30 to $500.  Membership dues have been integral to sustaining the Museum of Colorado Prisons in its continuing mission of collection, preservation, conservation, exhibition, and interpretation of the historical heritage of Colorado state and federal prison systems.
