First Friday Artist's Reception
First Friday Celebration of the Arts The Artists’ Gallery beckons you to our First Friday celebration of the arts! Gather your family and friends for a soul-gratifying evening of inspirational art, energetic music performed by The Chris Hartung Jazz Trio, and complimentary refreshments personally served by our member artists! Please join us on March 2nd, from 5-8 p.m., to recognize the following Featured Artists: One never knows what new direction painter, Pat Wiles, is going to take with her art; but be assured that it will be exciting. She announces, “I’m presenting a new style of work I call Watercrylic—a watercolor/acrylic mixture that allows me to use the watercolor realism that I love, in a way that brings out the bright colors I crave.” A nationally known artist, Pat’s work has been shown in galleries and museums around the U.S, as well as in Paris. She is also the illustrator of the Cowgirl Peg children's book series. Pat loves sharing her knowledge with young people through 4-H Visual Arts Classes and Summer Youth Art Camp. Jewelry designer, Kathy Pinover, established Of the West Jewelry Design in 2004. Her specialty is crafting exquisitely refined handmade beaded chain, using sterling silver and gold wire, to unite lovely crystals, pearls and unique stones. Kathy’s theme-inspired pieces reflect her personal connection to the beauty of the western landscape. Of her passion for this art form, Kathy says, “Creating jewelry is an exercise in imagination that balances the discipline and analysis of my career in healthcare.” First influenced by her father’s art, Suzi Popkess, has been painting for over 45 years. Concentrating her skills on watercolor scenes of Colorado, the southwest, and Italian design, she expertly renders splendidly rich landscapes and still life paintings. Suzi says, “I especially enjoy working in watercolor medium for its deep earth tones and vibrant colors.” Suzi creates her paintings in her home studio in Florence, where natural Colorado beauty inspires and stimulates her art work every day. Community support of the arts in Southern Colorado is vital to its existence! The Artists’ Gallery expresses our sincere gratitude for the wonderful response and participation of our local community! The Artists’ Gallery, 416 Main St., Canon City, is open every day from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information call (719)345-4070 or visit us on Facebook: www.facebook.com/TheArtistsGallery/.
