“First Friday” Celebration of the Arts The Artists’ Gallery beckons you to our monthly First Friday celebration of the arts! Gather together for a stimulating evening of creativity, community bonding, lively music performed by Tom Gudding, and complimentary refreshments personally served by our member artists! Please join us on March 1st, from 5-8 p.m., to recognize these Featured Artists: Jewelry designer, Kathy Pinover, established Of the West Jewelry Design in 2004. Her specialty is crafting exquisitely refined handmade beaded chain, using sterling silver and gold wire, to unite lovely crystals, pearls and unique stones. Of her passion for this art form, Kathy says, “Creating jewelry is an exercise in imagination that balances the discipline and analysis of my career in healthcare.” Seasoned artist, Linda Roper, has been painting for over 35 years, exploring and developing her skills in a variety of paint mediums. She also has a passion for photography and receives inspiration for her images from all of creation, as well as our beautiful local scenery. Linda loves teaching and encouraging others in expressing themselves in the arts. Art photographer, Wayne Gade, describes his innovative photographic style as a “blending” of original photographs with stylistic images, produced by computer software, that approximates sketching, oil painting, watercolor, and other art techniques. He explains, “I blend two or more interpretations of reality into a single image, to convey something deeper than the original photo.” Sculptor and visiting artist, Robert Henderson, will unveil his memorial bronze bust of local banker-philanthropist, Darryl Biggerstaff, entitled “The Banker”. Darryl was an outstanding civic leader in Cañon City and an integral part of the original group of citizens committed to establishing a local college. He became the driving force behind the efforts to raise $1 million for the building of the Fremont Campus of Pueblo Community College. As a small business in Cañon City, The Artists’ Gallery is thrilled that our town is one of the six finalists in the running for a $500,000 “small business makeover” from the Hulu show “Small Business Revolution—Main Street”! The winning town will be announced following a week of voting by the public. We encourage you to cast your vote in support of Cañon City by visiting deluxe.com/small-business-revolution through Tues., February 19th! Community support of the arts in Southern Colorado is vital to its existence! The Artists’ Gallery expresses our sincere gratitude for the wonderful response and participation of our local community! The Artists’ Gallery, 416 Main St., Cañon City, is open every day from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information call (719)345-4070 or visit us on Facebook: www.facebook.com/TheArtistsGallery/.
