"Wet Felting workshops offered at Aardwolf Alpacas. All projects start with a visit to the barn, choosing your favorite color right from the shorn raw fiber. We will skirt, card, felt, and finish the project taking the process from fiber to fashion! You take home your finished project.

Royal Gorge Bridge & Park and the Ministerial Alliance of Canon City, Colo., are hosting the annual Easter Sunday Service, April 4, at sunrise with the hour long service beginning at 6:30 a.m.  The service is free to the general public.

                The park is located 10 miles west of Canon City off Highway 50 and the main gate will open at 5:45 a.m. There will be seating for 500, and guests are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs and “to dress warmly for a crisp Colorado morning,” said Mike Bandera, General Manager.   Sam Swancutt will play the bagpipes before and after the service.    Royal Gorge Bridge & Park will also serve complimentary coffee and hot cocoa.  

                Loren  Kolman, Director of Young Life in Canon City, is organizing the service for the Ministerial Alliance which represents most of the local Christian churches in the community.    Kolman said things will be different this year, as three local pastors, Don Bird, First United Methodist, Sean Meagher, Livingstone Calvary Chapel, and Jay Rice, Grandview Christian Church will share the Gospel.    Music will be led by a team of local musicians.

The challenge will begin Feb 3rd and conclude April 7th.  Weekly weigh-ins will be every Wednesday 3:30pm-5pm at the Keller Williams office and will be recorded. If a contestant misses a weigh in they will be recorded as a Zero weight loss for that week.

How the winner is selected: The willer will be selected by the largest percentage of total weight loss. This keeps it fair for those of all sizes.

The Chamber Challenge cost to enter is $10.00 per person with all proceeds going to the canon City Chamber Fundraising Committee.

Contestants do not have to joi a gym to participate. They may join the sponsored gym at a discounted rate when presenting their Chamber Challenge entry pass to "Elite". Discounted rate will be $60. for a three month membership (normally $129.00)

Daddy's Girl" is sure to serve up a heaping helping of comic relief!!

  Fremont Civic Theatre will present "Daddy's Girl", author Gary Ray Stapp's wonderful story of a diner owner's re-union with his long, lost daughter.  This heartwarming tale will be presented at Washington School, 9th and College Ave. on April 9-11 and April 16-18.  Show times are 7:00 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and 3:00 p.m. on Sundays.  Tickets are available at the door and the prices are $8 for adults, $7 for students, seniors and FCT members and $5 for those under 12.  This show contains PG-13 content.

  The play stars veteran FCT actors Jennifer Miller, Terri Stultz, Kathy Herrin, Steven Minich and Kathy Splitgerber.  Other cast members include former "Annie" participant Sheri Caruso and Sheri Savage, who is renewing her involvement with FCT after a 10 year break!  Also sharing the stage will be FCT newcomers John Caverly, Joe Caruso, Beth Titus, Katie Bigelow, Bev Essex and David Sligar Jr.

    Leading the cast will be Director Marcy Del Castillo who is taking on her second directorship for Fremont Civic Theatre, after assisting on the large productions "Sound of Music" and "Wizard of Oz", as well as having roles with other plays as Producer, Stage Manager, Children's Director and various other duties!!

  "This is a great story of loss, heartache, acceptance and love" Del Castillo said. "I think the audience will truly enjoy the story and they'll get plenty of laughs along the way"!

The walkathon is a fundraiser for the El Hogar Orphanage and School in Honduras.  Any donations will be accepted but are not required to participate in the walkathon. The road will be closed to motorized traffic that day and refreshments will be served at the West gate and at the top. It is not a race and participants can walk(or run) as far or near as they want. The orphanage/school in Honduras accepts children off the streets who would otherwise join gangs or use begging,stealing and prostitution as their only means to survive. Honduras is the second-poorest country in the Americas.
