Senior services
The Cañon City Golden Shuttle Senior Transportation Program[a program of the Golden Age Center(GAC)] is in need of volunteer drivers. The volunteers typically drive once a week for 1/2 day. There is no special driver license required, but must have a defensive drivers certificate, CPR & first aid certification and a clean DMV printout. All certification are paid for by GAC. There is no pay, but a lot of satisfaction from helping the seniors in our area. If interested, please come into the Golden Age Center, 728 Main St. or call 275-5177.
The Cañon City Golden Age Council, Inc. (GAC) is a non-profit organization whose mission is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for those over 50 in our community.
Lunch is available at the GAC every Monday, Wednesday and Friday for a suggested donation. Reservations are required. The GAC also provides shuttle transportation in Cañon City with affordable door-to-door service, social events such as dancing and card playing and health and fitness programs for a variety of fitness levels.
