The Bruce McCandless Colorado State Veterans Home provides 24-hours skilled nursing care to Veterans and their spouses or widows.
Eligibility Requirements
• Veteran with general or honorable discharge
• Spouse or widow of Veteran with general or honorable discharge
• Gold Star Parent (a parent who lost a son or daughter in combat)
Special Programs:
• Memory Care for those with Alzheimer’s Disease or other types of Dementia
• Respite Care (caregiver relief for up to 13 days)
• Hospice Care (in partnership with Sangre de Cristo and Frontier hospice providers)
• Wound Care
About our Home
At the McCandless Veterans Home, residents enjoy a wide variety of in-house activities, lots of outings, participation in a very active Resident Council, restaurant style dining, gorgeous views of the Sangre de Cristo and Wet Mountain ranges, and the company of our resident dog, Bambi.
Our Home includes a safe and secure Alzheimer’s care area, an on-site pharmacy, C.J.’s Barber and Beauty Shop, a well-stocked library, and an outdoor family recreation area complete with playground equipment, gazebo and picnic tables.
