GENERAL INFORMATION
The Arkansas Valley Surgery Center is physician owned, which gives the physicians the control over their operative environment and equipment that they have always wanted, for optimal efficiency. The procedures that are carried out in an Ambulatory Surgery Center include surgery, pain management, and diagnostic services, which allow the patient to return home the same day for any uneventful recovery.

HISTORY OF AMBULATORY SURGERY CENTERS
By way of background, the first Ambulatory Surgery Center, in the United States was established in Phoenix, Arizona, in 1970, by a group of physicians who wanted to provide timely, convenient, and comfortable surgical services to patients in the community. In the1980’s and 1990’s, the concept flourished, and many procedures formerly performed exclusively in hospitals began to be performed in the Ambulatory Surgery

Centers. In the United States today, over six million surgeries a year are performed in over three thousand Ambulatory Surgery Centers. There are Ambulatory Surgery Centers in all 50 states and throughout the world. In the United States, most of these are licensed and certified by Medicare. The saving to Medicare expenditures has been in the billions of dollars.

Benefits
A major benefit of the Center will be personal convenience for the patients and the physicians. The fixed schedule of the surgeries will not be disrupted by emergency cases, saving hours of time for patients and doctors alike. The elective procedures can be scheduled at a time that is most convenient for the patient and the least disruptive to daily life. Costs are usually much lower, since no admission and overnight stay are necessary. The patients and their families will be given greater flexibility in their healthcare decisions.

Services Offered
The wide range of Ambulatory Surgery Center qualified procedures will be scheduled. These procedures are more complex than those performed in a physician’s office, although not so intensive as to require an overnight stay. The procedures, whether surgical or diagnostic, are at low risk for complications, and are conducive to healing, convalescence and recovery. The Surgery Center is not equipped with the facilities and the specialized diagnostic tools to serve as either an Urgent Care Clinic, or an Emergency Room.

Certification of the Center
The Arkansas Valley Surgery Center is licensed and certified by Medicare and the State of Colorado. The Arkansas Valley Surgery Center also accepts most insurances.
